My Shining Star: A 2022 Fingerprint charity and team update

Category: News

It’s been another busy year at Fingerprint Financial Planning!

In your 2022 end-of-year update, you’ll find a look back at the donations we have made to this year’s amazing cause, My Shining Star. You’ll also get a chance to help pick our charity partner for 2023.

Elsewhere, meet mortgage administrator Ellie in this month’s “in the Spotlight”, as we also say goodbye and good luck to Helen Hinde.

Helen has been with Fingerprint for five years and we wish her all the best for the next step in her adventure.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you a very merry festive season and a happy new year.

My Shining Star received nearly £3,000 from Fingerprint in 2022

You will have read about My Shining Star and the great work they do through our charity updates throughout the year.

We first told you about them in January, in ‘My Shining Star: Introducing Fingerprint’s chosen charity for 2022’, in which we also announced the relaunch of our “refer a friend” scheme.

At Fingerprint, we understand the value of professional financial advice and are proud of the service we give you. So proud, in fact, that we want your friends, family, and colleagues to experience it too.

When you refer someone to us who later becomes a Fingerprint Financial Planning client, you receive a £50 voucher, rising to a £100 voucher for any subsequent referral.

This year, we also gave you the option to donate your reward to My Shining Star. If you chose to do so, Fingerprint matched your generous donation, doubling the amount this amazing charity receives. That means £100 to charity for your first referral and a massive £200 for each referral thereafter.

Through this scheme, as well as the amazing efforts of staff – whether running the Brighton marathon or attending a charity quiz – we have raised an incredible £2890.

On top of this, we donated raffle prizes and are currently collecting toys for My Shining Star’s Christmas toy appeal. Toys donated to My Shining Star will be gifted to children with cancer and their families at the Royal Marsden Hospital on 15 December.

Many of the families of these sick children will be financially stretched as they give up work to look after their children or have to pay for regular hospital trips or house renovations. These additional costs, especially in the current climate, have made Christmas unaffordable for many.

Thank you all for the amazing support you have shown My Shining Star this year.

Your chance to vote for Fingerprint’s charity partner for 2023

As we head into a new year, you have the chance to help us choose our charity partner for next year.

You can use the below buttons to vote for your preferred option from our shortlist of local and national charities that work for causes close to all our hearts.

Just as in 2022, we have exciting plans to continue – and even expand – our charity work for 2023. It’s something the whole Fingerprint team feels passionately about and we can’t wait to get started.

The vote closes on 16 January so cast your vote now.

In the Spotlight with Ellie Coveney

Fingerprint mortgage administrator Ellie Coveney

Name: Ellie Coveney

Job title: Mortgage Administrator

Experience: Two years in an estate agency, both as a negotiator and a sales progressor, followed by 10 months in mortgage admin.

What first attracted you to the mortgage industry?

I really enjoyed the property world from an agency perspective but wanted to approach it from a different angle. I was looking for a clearer career path and more opportunities to learn and I’ve found that at Fingerprint.

What do you like most about your job?

The job satisfaction from seeing a client’s journey from start to finish. It’s really rewarding to see happy clients who are so pleased to get their desired outcome.

Also, I love the exposure to so many different situations and client circumstances. No two cases are the same and I’m always picking new things up along the way.

Could you give an example of a client you have really helped recently?

We recently had a client ready to complete on a remortgage. The solicitor confirmed an outstanding shortfall balance, on top of one that had already been paid.

The solicitor wasn’t able to explain the additional charge, or how it had been calculated. By liaising with the solicitor, and the new and existing lenders, I was able to confirm that the charge was an error on the solicitor’s part.

They had marked a later completion date with the new lender, causing the settlement figure with the existing lender to rise by more than £1000 in just two weeks. I notified all parties of the correct completion date and a new statement was reissued with the correct balance.

The case completed there and then, with no additional charges.

What does your job look like day-to-day and how do you help your clients?

My day is spent liaising with all the parties involved in a case: lenders, providers, estate agents, solicitors, and of course, our clients.

I keep each part of the process up to date, ensuring that the adviser is also informed. As well as this, I assist with quoting protection, keying applications, and gathering information and documents for the adviser ahead of their appointments.

Goodbye and good luck to Helen

After five years with Fingerprint Financial Planning, relationship manager Helen Hinde is moving to pastures new.

We are all very sad to see her go and know that you will be too.

Helen has been the first point of contact for many of you over the years so we know you’ll join us in wishing her all the best and every success in Norfolk. She will be much missed around the office!

If you have any questions about your relationship with Fingerprint in light of Helen’s departure, feel free to give us a call on 03452 100100 and the team will be happy to have a chat.
