In the spotlight: Evelyn Woodard – Your Fingerprint team update

Category: News

In your team update this month, we put financial planning administrator Evelyn Woodard “In the Spotlight”. Read about what she has learnt from two years of working with Fingerprint Financial Planning.

You’ll also find an update on the rest of the news from Fingerprint HQ, including our continuing charity efforts and a warm welcome to a new face.

First, though, let’s catch up with Eve.

In the Spotlight: Eve Woodard

Outside of work, Eve is an avid gig-goer with a keen interest in Korean culture. She has been with Fingerprint since the summer of 2020.

What do you like most about your job?

I’ve been here two years now – well, two years in August! – and there are so many aspects of the job that I’ve loved so far.

Most particularly, I’d say the knowledge and technical information that I’ve picked up and that I’m surrounded by daily. This has inspired me to begin obtaining my qualifications.

Knowing that we help real people achieve their retirement goals and provide the financial freedom they aspire to is rewarding as well.

What does a typical day look like for you?

There are definitely lots of emails!

My role involves providing technical and administrative support to the financial planning team. I collate all of the information from our clients’ pensions and investments, including some fund analysis. I then submit applications, chase third parties, and update our clients.

My day always starts with noting down a to-do list, and planning what I want to achieve by the end of the day.

Are there any standout moments where you feel your input has really helped a client?

We have a client whose parent’s social care fees were due to rise substantially this tax year. Our team was able to work out a tax-efficient, non-detrimental way for our client to continue to fund this. This was applied, set up and ready to go 3 months in advance of the fee increase, alleviating our client’s worry.

After this, we continued to assist the client with opening an investment product that was right for them and suited their circumstances.

Are there any financial tips that you have learnt while in your role that you will go on to use yourself?

Opt into your employer’s pension as soon as you can!

Although I am under the auto-enrolment age for pensions, I have opted in early. Thanks to my role and the knowledgeable people at Fingerprint Financial Planning, I was able to understand the benefit of joining a pension scheme.

The few years before auto-enrolment started might not seem like much now, but they really do help, and could make a huge difference to my overall value at retirement!

Another tip that I learned through being at Fingerprint Financial Planning, which was incredibly useful for my goal of saving for a house deposit, was to open a Lifetime ISA.

Charity news and Google reviews

We’ve spoken before about how much we value your reviews and recommendations. They are one of the best tools we have to grow our business, allowing us to improve the range and value of the services we offer.

Our Refer a Friend scheme continues to be extremely popular. Remember that you can refer a family member, friend, or colleague to us and receive a £50 voucher if the person you refer goes on to become a Fingerprint client.

You also have the option to donate your £50 to our charity partner My Shining Star, in which case, Fingerprint will match your donation, doubling the amount this amazing charity receives.

Finally, for any subsequent successful referrals that you send to us, you’ll receive a further £100 voucher.

We’re delighted to announce that since we launched the charity donation option, over 90% of Refer a Friend clients have opted to give their vouchers to charity, but remember, the choice is entirely yours to make.

The other way in which your input really helps our business is through Google reviews. We’re currently at 218 5-star reviews.

A massive thank you to everyone that has taken the time to leave a review for us. Every single one is massively appreciated!

Business development manager, Helen, is looking for the next generation of Fingerprint advisers

On 25 May, Helen Hinde will be at Cliffe Woods Primary School to take part in a careers fair.

This will be an excellent opportunity for the children to ask any questions they may have about the financial services industry, career prospects within the sector, and the qualifications they might need.

Helen will be looking to inspire a whole new raft of professionals into the profession, and maybe even some future colleagues.

And finally… a welcome

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to formally welcome the newest member of the Fingerprint Financial Planning team.

Andy Gregory joins us this month as a financial adviser.

We’d like to wish Andy all the best and we greatly look forward to working with him.
