Welcome to your monthly Fingerprint Financial Planning team update. It’s been a busy few weeks here at Fingerprint HQ!
This month, we officially welcome office administrator Jack Brockman to the team. We’re throwing him in at the deep end and putting him straight in the spotlight. Keep reading to find out what made Jack take up the offer of a job here, and how his career is progressing so far.
Elsewhere, read about the newest addition to the Fingerprint family, our team night out at the Medway Business Awards Gala Evening, and the latest charity news as we continue to support our charity partner My Shining Star.
First, though, it’s over to Jack.
Jack Brockman in the spotlight
- Name: Jack Brockman
- Job title: Office administrator
- Experience: 3 months in the industry
What made you choose to join the Fingerprint Team?
This is my first job since leaving school and I have a long-term career goal of becoming a fully qualified mortgage adviser. This role is a great starting point for me.
My dad has worked at Fingerprint for just over a year now and has been a mortgage broker for the past three years. My interest in the world of mortgages and financial planning formed when he started his own journey, and it has been growing ever since.
Around six months ago I came to Fingerprint for a few training days. I wanted to gain a greater understanding of the industry and it was also a great chance to get to know the team. After that first day, I knew I wanted a job here.
I sat down with Fingerprint’s then-sales manager, and he explained to me exactly what it is that we do. He also talked me through how Fingerprint works, and the things that make us stand out compared to other companies.
I walked away wanting to learn more, and when I came back for a second day, I was offered a job. I am hugely grateful for this opportunity and I am learning more and more each day.
I plan to keep learning more within Fingerprint. My long-term career goal is to become a fully qualified mortgage adviser and this is a great starting point for me.
What do you like most about your job?
I love everything that I have done here so far. The majority of the things that I do help someone else, whether clients or colleagues.
Being able to help other people was one of the main reasons why I wanted to start on my journey to becoming a mortgage adviser within a financial planning company.
The social environment here at Fingerprint is also great. We have a huge variety of personalities and yet everyone gets on so well. It makes for a really nice working atmosphere.
What do you think makes Fingerprint Financial Planning stand out from other financial planning companies?
We’re an independent company, rather than part of a global branch, and that gives us a lot of freedom in how we run things, and the decisions we can make.
We have access to the whole of the market, for example, which means we can use any lender we choose. This means that we give our clients the best possible deal for them.
Since joining the company, is there anything that has surprised you about what we do?
This is my first job after leaving school so the whole thing has come as a surprise to me.
From getting the job to learning what Fingerprint does and becoming part of the team as I learn more about the role, every day brings surprises. But never bad ones!
The number of different tasks that the job involves means that my day is really varied and I’m gaining a lot of experience, really quickly. This is great for helping me to build a future career and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Welcoming the latest addition to the Fingerprint family
As Jack begins to settle into his new role, we welcome another new colleague to the team.
Ellie Coveney joins us as a mortgage administrator. She has previously spent two years working in an estate agency, first as a lettings negotiator and then as a sales support manager. Ellie eventually moved into mortgage admin and has done this for the last six months.
We’d like to officially welcome Ellie to the team and wish her all the best for her career here.
The My Shining Star Cancer Charity Raffle
My Shining Star, Fingerprint’s charity partner, held a raffle during their fun day on Sunday 28 August.
Fingerprint was glad to donate some amazing raffle prizes. We would also like to thank those of you who continue to donate your “refer a friend” vouchers to the charity, allowing us to support them in this way too.
The money you donate makes a huge difference to children living with cancer, and their families.
A donation of just:
- £5 could help provide a hamper to take to the Royal Marsden this Christmas
- £10 would buy two lunches for a parent in the hospital canteen
- £20 could be enough to provide the fuel that helps a parent make an important hospital trip
- £50 might be enough to cover a household bill in arrears due to a child having treatment
- £100 pays for essential travel costs for visits to cancer units or hospitals far from home
- £250 might be used to buy a new washing machine, oven, or bed for struggling families
- £500 could cover utility bills missed due to the lack of income while caring for a child
- £1000 might pay for a mortgage or rent payment for at least one month.
Read our charity blog to find out more about My Shining Star and how you can get involved in helping us to support this amazing cause.
Fingerprint were finalists at the Medway Business Awards Gala Evening
Finally, Fingerprint Financial Planning was delighted to be named a finalist at the Medway Business Awards.
The whole team attended the gala evening on 9 September. While we didn’t win, it was great to be acknowledged as finalists.
We all had a great evening and are already looking forward to next year’s event!
